What is your yoga/fitness background? As a student? As an instructor?
I’ve always have been into yoga fitness, cardio, weights etc and have been teaching since 2017.
What is your practice philosophy?
Everybody is different ….not only in their level of experience with Yoga, but physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as well. I emphasize that people listen to their bodies and spirit and use my cues as a guide, not a command. I help guide them to acknowledge the emotions that may be holding them and to develop their own practice.
What do you hope your students get the most from your classes?
A sense of tuning into their mind-body connection to help release what no longer serves them. Develop their intuition and connection to others.
Do you prefer a specific style of yoga? fitness? Why?
I like many different types of Yoga. Personally, I like Yoga in a warmer environment and one that is challenging. As far as teaching I like Yoga classes that incorporate both strength and flexibility,
What is your advice to a beginner walking into their first class?
I reach out to them before the class and ask them if there are any areas they need to work on, what their motivation is, and what are they looking for in their practice. I encourage them to not compare themselves to people around them and listen to their bodies and do what they can. I will show them modifications on poses that might be too difficult for them initially.
What tips do you use in your life to motivate yourself to move?
Exercise and Yoga have become a central part of my life so motivation at this point is ingrained in my lifestyle
What elements of yoga and fitness are you excited to teach, and why?
I enjoy teaching many forms of Yoga and other integrative forms of wellness like Reiki, Sound Healing, and meditation. Yin and deep stretch seem to be my specialty areas, but I have experience teaching Vinyassa as well.
A little more….
I love teaching Yoga and making heart connections with my students; Watching them develop their own practice, healing and enrichen their connections to others.
