Cora Pitt
Originally from Minnesota, Cora first moved to Memphis with her family in 1986. She returned to Memphis in 2004 to complete her Bachelor of Music in Classical Piano from the University of Memphis. Upon graduation, she worked in the music industry in Memphis and travelled around the country until she returned to Memphis in 2013. She first tried Pilates in college, but revisited the method when working to correct a hip injury due to poor posture, scoliosis, and unbalanced hips. The Pilates method not only provided relief for her hip injury, but she enjoyed it so much that she decided to go through the extensive training for her certification in the method. She completed her 500 comprehensive Pilates training through the Club Pilates Education program in February of 2017. She is also certified in the TRX Suspension Trainer and Barre Above. When Cora is not teaching, you can find her running the streets of Midtown with one of her rescue pups, climbing or kayaking, or cruising around town on her motorcycle.

Q & A with Cora Pitt!
What is your pilates background? As a student? As an instructor?
student. Pilates Instructor. I started as a student in yoga and Pilates. In 2016, an opportunity to go through Pilates teacher training came up. I completed my comprehnsive Pilates certification in 2017 and have loved teaching every since.
What is your pilates philosophy?
My philosphy is to do no harm, to be kind, and to live and teach in the service of others.
What do you hope your students get the most from your classes?
Relief, strength, knowledge, and over all improved bio-mechanics.
Do you prefer a specific style of pilates? Why?
I love all types of movement.
What is your advice to a beginner walking into their first class?
Don't forget to breathe and have fun!
What tip do you use in your life to motivate yourself to move?
Not so much a tip, but a daily reminder of how important and precious independent living is. Our bodies won't last forever, but we can get the most out of them if we treat it right.
What elements of pilates are you excited to teach, and why?
I love teaching the foundations and fundamentals. The littlest things we can achieve in our bodies make a huge difference in our overall life and practice.
